The Britishers formed the army initially in the country during their rule and after the Seopy Mutiny of 1857, known as the Indian Rebellion which turned out to be a significant factor in the formation.Â
Briths took charge of India and they formed a British army the same year, after a struggle for three to four decades, the Indian Army Day was formed which is April 1st, 1895, and is known as National Army Day after Independence in 1947.
There are seven commands in the Indian Army and those are – Western Command, Eastern Command, Northern Command, Southern Command, South Western Command, Training Command, and Central Command.
Significance of the Indian Army Day
The day is celebrated at all Army Command Headquarters with parades and other patriotic events by NCC cadets, and trained professionals. The central command will be leading the parade, marching contingents, including the Jat Regiment, Sikh Light Infantry, Army Air Defence, and Paratroopers.Â
The main parade for Army Day takes place at Cariappa Parade ground in Delhi cantonment. The day includes:Â
