World Cancer Day which is February 4th of every year is celebrated with specific themes. The day is hosted by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC). WHO has developed guidelines for early detection and symptoms of cancer. There is no doubt that early detection of cancer is effective in reducing cancer-related mortality which is a misguided statement in society.

World Cancer Day 2024 History and ImportanceÂ
World Cancer Day was established in 2000 at the first World Summit against Cancer in Paris. At the summit, several leaders from government agencies and cancer organizations from around the world signed the Paris Charter on Cancer. It is a global collaborative effort to improve the quality of life for cancer patients and continue to invest in and advance cancer research, prevention, and treatment. Article X of the Charter officially declared 4 February as World Anti-Cancer Day.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), in case mortality doesn’t reduce, we may face the numbers increasing to 16.3 Million by 2040. It will increase more than that. 40% of cancer deaths are preventable as WHO reports.
UICC was established in 1993. The head office is located in Geneva. They are a membership-based organization that provides cancer-free support and treatments.Â

Cancer is a group of diseases in which cells begin to grow uncontrollably, and results in the multiplication of those affected cells into stages and producing trillions of cells. These extra cells divide, divide, and grow into tumors. The stages of cancer are four, while the cells are not multiplied by the other healthy cells of the body indicating you are in the first or second stage. The next 2 stages are crucial as they start to spread to other parts of the body rapidly and sometimes symptoms cannot be seen by the patient leaving the situation more dangerous and serious
