Introduction

Celsius and Fahrenheit are two scales used to measure temperature. The temperature in the centigrade scale will be expressed in degrees Celsius. The temperature in the Fahrenheit scale will be expressed in degrees Fahrenheit. The relation between Celsius and Fahrenheit is proportional. Both have a different freezing point of water and both follow the varied unit difference between each scale.

Celsius: Celsius is also called centigrade and is used by most countries. Celsius, also called the centigrade scale based on 0° for the freezing point of water and 100° for the boiling point of water. Invented in 1742 by the Swedish astronomer Anders Celsius, it is sometimes called the centigrade scale because of the 100-degree interval between the defined points.

  • However, a modern Celsius scale has been adopted that is based on the triple point of Vienna Standard Mean ocean water and has improved with the concept of absolute zero.
  • According to this, the modern concept of the Celsius scale is not based on the freezing point and boiling point of water, but on the triple point of water.
  • After May 2019, the absolute zero, the lowest temperature possible is denoted by 0K or -273.15°C. Before that, however, the temperature of the triple point of water was defined exactly at 273.16 K or 0.01 °C.
  • The average human body temperature is 37°C on the Celsius scale.

Conversion of Celsius to Fahrenheit:

Celsius to Fahrenheit formula is the conversion formula to convert the given temperature from °C to temperature in °F. We know that the freezing point of water is 0 degrees on the Celsius scale and 32 degrees on the Fahrenheit scale, whereas the boiling point of water is 100 degrees on a Celsius scale and 212 degrees on the Fahrenheit scale. The formula to convert Celsius to Fahrenheit is given by:

°F = °C × (9/5) + 32.

Conversion of Fahrenheit to Celsius:

To convert Celsius to Fahrenheit, you can use two basic formulas. If you know the temperature in Fahrenheit and want to convert it to Celsius, first subtract 32 from the temperature in Fahrenheit and multiply the result by five/ninth. The formula is:

C = 5/9 x (F-32)
