Ayodhya Ram Mandir Features: The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya is all set to be inaugurated in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other dignitaries on January 22. Followed by the consecration ceremony (pran pratishtha) of Ram Lalla in the sanctum-sanctorum (garbha-griha), the temple will be open for the devotees from January 24.

Features of Ayodhya Ram Mandir

The original design for Ram Mandir was planned in 1988 by the Sompura family of Ahmedabad. However, it went through certain changes in 2020, in reference to the Vastu shastra and the Shilpa shastras. The Sompuras have contributed to the design of over 100 temples worldwide for at least 15 generations, including the Somnath temple.

The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple construction is managed wholly by the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. Its estimated cost of the temple’s construction is expected to range between ₹1,400 crore to ₹1,800 crore.

Ayodhya Ram Mandir Main Temple Infrastructure

The Ram Mandir in Ayodhya is designed in traditional Nagar architectural style. It is one of the two main styles of Hindu temple architecture. The temples are built with stone or brick on a square or rectangular plane with shikhara located in the center. In this architectural style, the temple is surrounded by small towers called Mukha Mandapa.

Interesting features of Ayodhya Ram Mandir

It will be a three-story structure with each floor having a height of 20 feet. The temple will have a total of 392 pillars and 44 gates. The main sanctum will house a child form of Lord Shri Ram (deity of Shri Ram Lalla Sarkar), and the first floor will feature Shri Ram Darbar. Entry to the temple will be from the east side, climbing 32 stairs from Singhdwar.

Other than this, the temple is equipped with:

  • The temple is secured with perkota inside and outside.
  • Ram Mandir architecture is based on incremental expansion for the next fifty years.
  • Unique three-level tree plantation to protect the temple and its premises from seasonal dust and storms.
  • A special security complex to avoid any unfortunate incident.
  • Flower garden and plantation based on astrological constellations.
  • Vigilance towers on all four sides of the temple.
  • Mammoth memorials to pay tribute to martyrs.
  • The main temple of Ayodhya is surrounded by four temples dedicated to Sun God, Goddess Bhagwati, Lord Ganesha, and Lord Shiva. Sitakoop from the mythological period will be present near the temple. Other proposed temples in the premises will be dedicated to Maharishi Valmiki, Maharishi Vashishtha, Maharishi Vishwamitra, Maharishi Agastya, Nishadraj, Mata Shabari, and Rishipatni Devi Ahilya.
